This site has been extremely difficult for me to navigate -- I spent close to 10 minutes looking for the correct place to post this thread. That being said, I may have missed this -- but is there anyway to get an idea of names that have actually sold on NamePros? Occasionally I will run across a post listing available domains with a SOLD next to it -- but auctions -- is there any organization of what's sold and for what cost?
Is there something behind the scenes (yes, always) that I'm missing? I get the impression that even at rock bottom prices, there aren't many actual "public" transactions. Maybe because I can't see what the success/completion rate is. How many name submission requests are actually satisfied from NamePro respondents? It would be great to know what was bought and for what price. Even blindly - with few details, if it's sensitive information.
And how many sale listings for make an offer - get an offer and make a deal. Occasionally I've seen a response with a number and a question mark but that's probably all PM'd (and may be why this information is perhaps not possible to gather without a buy-in from members).
I get that privacy is important here -- I'm not asking for information that isn't already posted, just closure. Maybe private sales could still be cryptic enough to be protective but still offer enough feedback that members would find valuable.
Such as -- "47 domains were sold this month -- 28.coms, 3 .nets, etc. ranging from m $1.00 to $3700." And maybe -- "Top seller was wedonthaveenoughpeopletodothatshit.com"
I think I exchanged some correspondence with Eric Lyons and I recall something about it being looked at, but so far (this was well over a year ago) difficult to wrangle for a number of reasons -- manpower to technology. Memory may not be reliable.
I am on this site to learn and do/offer research. Originally, I hoped it would be a source for wholesale sales and purchase. I've stopped posting listings and don't bother responding to requests because it doesn't seem worth it. And yes, I am aware that all the aforementioned depends on the name, etc., etc. And I've seen some good ones here - at least competitive with Flippa, GoDaddy prices/quality but yet no takers. At least publicly. And PM's are private so maybe it would involve polling members and just 'a'int going to happen. I imagine someone can enlighten me.
Maybe the liquid category does well. I see requests for 5 letter dot coms offering a budget of up to $10 per name and I'm thinking, is that realistic? So I'm wondering if anyone else would like to see this? Or where I might find this kind of information if it is here and I missed it? Or whatever feedback is offered.
I don't come here much anymore because even with a search I have trouble pulling up what I'm looking for and isn't from like 2009, so it's kind of like going to facebook and flipping around like reading a gossip magazine while waiting in a checkout line at a store. Which makes me wonder if I should downgrade my membership and pay for premium Medium.com (also $5 a month) which at least goes towards paying writers.
I have read some great stories here though! Thanks
